Today marks the last day for the presidential candidates to gear up the country to vote and they’re streaking across the blue skies to hit up as many toss-up states as possible. The president will be in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Iowa before the day’s end. Romney is venturing to Florida, Virginia, Ohio, and finish his day up with a final rally in New Hampshire.
Both men will spend election night in their home states but, in the meantime, both candidates are bringing out the big dogs. Bruce “the Boss” Springsteen appeared with the president in Wisconsin Monday morning and a New Hampshire Romney rally will feature Kid Rock.
As the country waits, with the popcorn popping, for the results to come in Tuesday evening, there is one thing all Americans can agree on: this will definitely be one close election. Both NBC News/Wall Street Journal and Real Clear Politics show the president having a slight lead over Romney nationally.
Over the last week, the Cyclists have been going through the key battleground states to understand how the electoral map may shape up. The final battleground focus is Nevada, where unemployment and housing are the main stories. Currently, the state has an 11.8% unemployment rate, the highest in the country, and its housing crisis and jobless rate are the two central issues for Nevadans.
The Silver State has six electoral votes and each candidate has visited repeatedly over the last few days trying to gear up their supporters to go out and vote. Obama leads Romney 50.2% to 47.4% in the state, according to the latest Real Clear Politics poll.
Tuesday evening will Nevada stay blue or turn red? No one is sure but speculation will continue until those official polling numbers begin to come in, well into the evening hours.
