Since the days leading up to the shutdown of the federal government, Senate Chaplain Barry Black has been using his position to discourage lawmakers directly from allowing a lapse in the federal budget.
With exhortations like “Deliver us from the hypocrisy of attempting to sound reasonable while being unreasonable,” the chaplain’s prayers have become increasingly sharp in their criticism.
