Just one hour before her second official swearing-in ceremony Loretta Lynch joined the Twitter community, becoming the first sitting U.S. Attorney to be active on the platform, according to the social media giant.
The 83rd Attorney General is “excited to join the conversation” on Twitter and is already working on two major cases that have generated millions of interactions on the social media platform, including the FIFA corruption investigation and the Baltimore police’s role in the death of Freddie Gray, an unarmed black man.
In today’s investiture ceremony, President Obama will be speaking and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will swear Lynch in using Frederick Douglass’ Bible.
“His life is an inspiration to me,” Lynch said in her second-ever tweet.
So far, Lynch has nearly 5,000 followers and is following President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, several members of the cabinet, and various government agencies. Her Twitter debut was hailed by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.
